I rarely hear or see anything about the war on my local news (DFW). I do get reports from CNN and NPR. Has the media taken this out of the headlines because of the election?
Dawgz Yes the death toll is less for our Armed Forces but the crippled and maimed are far greater numbers not even taking into consideration the citizens killed in the wars.

we are the true terrorists
We may never know the truth. The war in Afghanistan has been forgotten. So much of Al-Qaeda in Iraq, when they are based in Afghanistan.
It’s not as much of an issue now because things have improved. The media is focused on what sells and progress in war doesn’t sell. In reality, people get up in arms over soldier casualties…as they should…but if you keep it in context to say the Vietnam War which had 12,000+ US Dead in 1968 (one year) versus the recent Iraq War total number of 4,000+ in four years…you quickly realize that there is a lot of negative hype going on about the Iraq War.
I don’t think that any of us know what truly goes on over there. I don’t know if they are omitting because of the election…more likely from pressure from our current administration.
I fear they the problem is not so much shielding is that we have become numb to hearing about. We live in a world where Paris Hilton’s newest stupidity gets more press then a Cop that save 100 kids. The war is not getting the ratings that is use to so it now is no longer news.
yes ,mclair news on public tv said the oil companys penned a contract for 80 %of iraqs oil for 30 years ,we will have bases there and will never leave ,oil runs everything ,buy stock now if you can afford it

We are being shielded from the true situation in Iraq.
